Alfie's Memory Garden

Ormiston Chadwick Academy is planning to dedicate its fundraising efforts to the memory of Alfie Humphreys, a well-loved and much-missed student who sadly passed away in 2021.

The academy will be raising funds in order to transform a patch of land into a beautiful memory garden for Alfie; a place where students can gather to remember and pay tribute to their friend, a young man who is hugely missed in the OCA community.

After the loss of Alfie Humphreys on March 12th 2021, Alfie’s friend since primary school, Mason has shown great courage, bravery and resilience in facing these challenging times.

He decided to climb Mount Snowdon to raise money in Alfie’s memory. This exceptional challenge meant that Mason raised £1,500 for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Mason is a remarkable young man with a heart of gold. His resilience and determination during this difficult time has been exceptional and he is an absolute credit to himself, his family and Ormiston Chadwick Academy.

Luke, also a close friend of Alfie’s, raised £3,500 in a charity bike ride. This money went to Alfie’s family and provided them with great comfort.

Luke is an exceptional young man, and the bravery and determination he has shown in honouring his late friend have been astounding. Everyone at Ormiston Chadwick Academy is very proud of Luke and considers him to be an absolute superstar he will be fundamental in the planning of Alfie’s memory garden.

Luke has fantastic ambitions to raise money, such as his idea to hold a staff vs students football match. He wants to ensure football and sport are at the centre of the academy’s mission, as Alfie was a passionate Everton supporter.

Both boys have stayed strong throughout this whole time and have been amazing friends to all those at the academy and in the community who miss Alfie so much.

They are going to be fantastic #WeWill fundraisers!
