Overview

This resource pack is aimed at our external (non-Ormiston network) 2024-2025 Youth Social Action grantee schools. The resources for the grant process are available to download from this page. In this pack you will find:

1. Delivery Guidance
–1a. Embedding high quality YSA guide
This implementation guide is specific to a grant offered by the Ormiston Trust which schools can apply for to run a YSA programme in 2024-2025. This guide gives applicants step-by- step explanations to follow and should be read in conjunction with the accompanying grant guidelines.
–1b. Curriculum, Passport and Skills Delivery guide
This guide’s main aim is to support you in delivering your Youth Social Action project through the curriculum, passport and teaching young people the necessary skills. It outlines the content of the core resources which you are expected to deliver as a grant recipient.
–1c. Staff YSA Presentation
This presentation is a staff introductory training resource providing an overview of the YSA process, benefits, and resources.

2. Assemblies
This folder contains 5 presentations that can be delivered in assemblies, including: What is Youth Social Action? and introductions to our four core topic areas - Health and Wellbeing; Climate Change; Inclusion & Diversity; and Poverty.

3. Passport and Project Planning
–3a. Student YSA Passport
The passport supports the reflection process of YSA projects. Passports have been developed as a medium for pupils to plan and record their journey through the social action process. It gives pupils tasks to be completed in class or as part of their home learning process.
–3b. Student YSA Planning Guide
The project planning guide supports young people through step 3 (Plan) of their youth social action process.

4. Skills
–4a. Skills Guide
This guide supports teachers in delivering 2 hours of core skills training to help students deliver their YSA projects. It contains lesson plans that integrate activities teaching communication, teamwork, problem solving, and reflection skills.
–4b. 4x Lesson delivery slides

5. Curriculum Topic Guides
Curriculum topic guides and lesson delivery slides can be found in the relevent folders: Health and Wellbeing; Climate Change; Inclusion & Diversity; and Poverty. These guides give information on how to embed these issues across a range of school subjects. They are designed to enable teachers to deliver YSA learning within the national curriculum.
