Earth Force – Environmental Action Civics

Overview

US-based Earth Force uses Environmental Action Civics. Students share power with adults, practice democratic decision-making, and address local environmental problems using civics.
 
Some examples of projects are:

  • Students successfully got legislation passed to ensure good indoor air quality statewide following issues with mould at their school.
  • A long-term advocacy project with students requesting a pedestrian path on a bridge. Over a million people cross the bridge on bikes or on foot, creating a connection between two diverse communities.
  • Young people saved the Winkler Botanical Preserve from a proposed transportation development for new federal buildings.
